What we are doing here

Wherein we will ask GOP officials if they approve of the MS GOP saying the Tea Party is racist and promising federal money to Democrats. Then we will record their answers here.

Please help.

Contact the officials in your state and ask them #whyThad. let me know their answer in the comments section. Include links if possible. I will not publish the comment/your info. I will update the pages based on those comments though.

Sen McConnell says – feel free to contest the election…but Thad won.

Seeing as Sen McConnell said he was “all-in” for Thad and organized a big fundraiser for him, it would be pretty surprising if he said Thad did something wrong.

Still mildly interesting that he has finally commented after the election.

And Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) told reporters at his weekly press conference on Tuesday that “anybody’s entitled” to contest the election.

“It’d be up to the people in Mississippi to determine the outcome,” he said. “I think it’s pretty clear who won. Senator Cochran ran a very successful runoff campaign and got the most votes. But anybody’s entitled to contest the outcome and that may well happen in Mississippi.”

No comment on whether or not he supports the race-baiting or the poor accounting. Don’t be afraid to reach out and ask his Press Secretary for answers.

And ask every GOP official #whyThad

Tide turning? RNC member asks for investigation of RNC….

A prominent member of the Republican National Committee is calling for the national organization to investigate the “racially divisive ads and robocalls” that targeted conservative state Sen. Chris McDaniel in Mississippi’s Republican Senate run-off last month.

Ed Martin, the chairman of the Missouri Republican Party, sent a letter to RNC chairman Reince Priebus requesting him to appoint a special committee of RNC members to “investigate this matter” and report back on its findings.

Be sure and call all your GOP officials and ask #whyThad. Let us know what they say.  We will publish it.

Karl Rove supports Thad. Says that McDaniel has no right to complain? (updated)

Karl Rove is upfront about his personal help to Thad Cochran and his Super PAC’s help.

He even acknowledged that some of his support comes from anti-tea party (but glossed over that anti-tea party is just expecting Republicans to do what they say they will) . Of course, he did not acknowledge the racist techniques to draw out some of that vote.

Source (Behind a paywall – may have to get to the article via Google)

Does anyone understand this comment Rove made?

“Mr. McDaniel cannot complain about crossover voting since he participated in the 2003 Democratic primary.”

I haven’t heard this before. Any idea what this refers to? I will gladly update as soon as I have more info.

Update – It is true. Source via JakeI am not sure why McDaniel did this. Curious to hear a more complete explanation. To Rove’s point though – not sure this proves anything. I haven’t heard anyone argue that crossover voting is illegal. The argument has always been race-baiting and selling out Republican positions to get that crossover is a crappy thing for establishment to do. And that actual fraud is a bad thing and should be investigated.

Mitch McConnell “all-in” for Thad

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is putting the weight of his political organization behind embattled Sen. Thad Cochran.”

“senior staff told a packed room of more than 50 in-house and contract lobbyists that McConnell is “all-in” on the race,”

“Our friend Thad is in a battle in the coming weeks that will have a very real impact on our fight for the Majority. You have helped all of us in the past, and we need your help for him now,” the email signed by McConnell said. “It is critical that he has financial resources now, and we are going to make sure he has them.”

Sen McCain gives a full throated endorsement of Cochran’s reelection tactics – and says he will use them in the future.

“He described Cochran’s “get-out-the-vote campaign” as “excellent,”

“McCain has acknowledged that he would likely attract a tea-party-style primary opponent, and says he will be ready to rumble if it happens.”
